People are fascinated by mermaids, from ancient Greek lore to corporate logos and modern Disney confections, they pop-up often in our culture. I have had several commissions to paint them and have developed a series that I call "Fierce Sirens", featuring mermaids as warriors and noble dwellers of the deep.
I used small pieces of cornflower blue sea glass to accent the "non-human" portion of her body.
